How did Cait Hess Design get started?

Hi, I’m Cait, owner and lead designer at Cait Hess Design! I was a Graphic Designer for 10+ years who branched off, and started my own company to embrace my passion for design and marketing to help others succeed! 

I am passionate about all things creative and helping others succeed. My dream was to create a business that could serve as a platform to help other small businesses and to offer an umbrella of all my creative services and knowledge. A dream that turned into a reality is how Cait Hess Design started!

Becoming self-employed and owning and operating my own business empowers me and I truly love all of the aspects of marketing! Waking up and doing what I love every day doesn’t ever feel like work to me.

I offer creative services such as Branding, Website Design, Social Media Design and Management, and other marketing services. I love social media and the awesome connections you can make with people all around the world!

I have helped countless entrepreneurs and small businesses find confidence in their brands and websites, various marketing materials, and increased results and sales for my clients and other businesses I’ve worked for! I want anyone who is first starting out or doesn’t even know where to start to feel like they can come to me for help with their brand or business! We got this, I’ve been there and figured it out, I’m here to help you!

At the end of the day, my friends and family make it all worth it for me!  If I’m not sitting at my computer you can find me at the gym or on my bike. I love to explore, travel, and be outside. I like to express myself creatively, whether it’s through graphic design, painting, writing, or singing theatrically like I’m in a broadway musical. I like to have fun with what I do and believe in the power of positivity! You can change anything with a positive mindset and the right attitude. Oh, and if you couldn’t tell by my site, yes I love crystals and I like to go digging for them too.

Who or what is your biggest inspiration? 

My biggest inspiration is my mother, my biggest cheerleader, known for her wisdom, unconditional love, support, and for always putting her 3 daughters’ needs ahead of her own. She started her own business in 2012. Watching her gave me the courage to become a business owner! Also, countless women in general and other small businesses I’ve found online and through social media motivates me to pursue my passion fearlessly and keep growing. 

I see so many other successful women around the world taking risks to achieve their goals, if they can do it, so can I! It’s an incredible journey and I am always finding inspiration, especially on Pinterest and Instagram, and continually educating myself through online workshops, going on Clubhouse, and reading and listening to podcasts! 

If you could talk to yourself 5 years ago, what advice would you give yourself? 

I would say just go for it, and stop caring so much about what other people think. Do what makes you happy and be the authentic you! Also, you don’t always need someone to tell you you’re doing a good job (although praise is nice sometimes!) I am one of those people who seek affirmation, it’s one of my love languages. My best advice is that if you don’t have that co-worker or that someone special around, it’s up to you to stay motivated and love yourself! It’s having the inner quiet knowledge that you are the expert in the room and being confident in your work and in yourself.

Being an artist is about making decisions and also understanding and educating your clients towards their goals. Be patient with them and with yourself because at the end of the day, if you’ve tried your hardest and given it your best, there’s nothing to worry about. I would tell young Cait, be patient, don’t be so hard on yourself, you got this girl, you are the expert, and you are resilient!
